A little about me...
Ade Putra Safar (b. 1988) graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2009 and is currently serving his National Service.
The work in this series evolved from a previous body of paintings that was an investigation into his sub-conscious mind. For the past months, Ade began exploring on the idea of illustration of what is going on around him as well as the pattern of behavior of the human species. As an investigator into his subconscious mind, the exploration and understanding the nature of what we are will be pursued. The context he wish to setup on canvas is one that is surreal. Ade intend to explore potential hallucinations, dreamscapes in which some forms of narratives can be revived. Most of the work will be juxtaposed in a way they don’t make sense. The familiar will be made unfamiliar and awkward. The creation of the body of works involves different aspects, visual aesthetics, colour and moods. Ade is interested in the vision that is not visible in reality. The repetition of images that haunts him after experiencing something aggravating to the mind. These events that Ade can clearly recall he’ll record through his paintings.
Ade Putra chosen to do a mixed media work which includes collage work with dozen of medium in a single painting, eg. Aerosol paints, acrylic ink, fabric ink, acrylic paints, Chinese ink, emulsion paint, white glue to name a few.
